Very nice rifle...and you do not find deals like that anymore.... It would have been a great deal at $350. Please post your experience on these two forums also:

Re: When was my Model 8 made?

I don't have the book handy, but I believe with a four digit serial number 16xx, your gun was made in either 1906 or early 1907, probably 1906. Someone else will come along later that can confirm or modify my guess. Remington didn't start using production codes on the Model 8 about 1921. At first, t...

Re: m91 sporter - factory job???

I am not aware of any M91 factory modified "sporters" and I would not put an ounce of credence in any such notion, there being too many permutations of "Bubba" to count. But there appears to be some well placed persons who have entertained the idea that Remington may have experim...

Re: Model 81

This is the for sale forum. Is this item for sale? If not, you might want to move it to the right section of the forum. It looks like from a reading of Mr. Henwood's book, "The Great Remington 8 and Model 81..." that the markings of the early F.B.I. rifle included the Remington trade mark ...

Re: 25-35 Rem cartridge Model 8

According to John Henwood's book, "The Great Remington 8 and 81...", you can find the "25-35" marking on rifles made between 1907 and 1915 and as high as serial number 36056. But they started using the standard "25 Rem" marking in 1907 too. They apparently used both mar...

Re: Savage 300 Chamber in Model 8 Rem 30 Barrel

I do not think this conversion was a good idea. The Model 8, as you well know, is a recoil operated action. That fat barrel jacket contains springs which absorb the recoil and return the bolt to battery after firing. There is a vast difference in energy between the .30 Remington (1,540 ft/lbs) and t...

.300 Savage bolt

I think that the .35 Remington bolt and the .300 bolt are the same at least I think the .300 Savage bolt face has a 35 on it.
