I am considering purchasing a 1917 Russian contract m91 Remington which is sporterized. I know that typically these were customized after the gov't buy-out of Remington's remaining stock of the Czarist contract, subsequently sold cheap to the public and sporterized, but this one appears to be a factory job. It is a very old job and the stock is much higher grade than others of the era I've seen, having the military style finger grooves but being the wrong configuration to be a converted military stock. I'm typically quite a purist, but this one caught my interest.
Does anyone know if Remington produced any sport-versions of the m91 from the factory?
Thanks.
m91 sporter - factory job???
Re: m91 sporter - factory job???
Thanks Walt,
I'm with you in figuring its a long shot. I don't usually like to see decent firearms cut down, but was curious because of the quality of this conversion. I was unaware of the Berthier theories.
Thanks again!
