The second 725 has arrived. Date code AE, March 1959, ser# 708711
Looks like some modifications have been done on the grip. I don't think this is factory.
I recently acquired a Model 725 in 30-06 with a date code EE for Oct. 58, ser # 707755
I have another enroute to me, ser # 708711, also 30-06. Will check date code upon arrival.
I also have a 721 in 30-06, date code BYY, Jan 52, Ser # 226056
It appears your barrel is marked STAINLESS STEEL. I've had 4 of these 7 Mags through my hands the latest dated to 1970 and they were all 23-1/2" long. Receivers are built in batches and some might sit in inventory for a few months or longer until being barreled and assembled. Very nice ADL with a ...

I just traded for my first 722. Its a 300S that barely looks used. It is not drilled and tapped in the rear. Bore is nice and shiny. Has one scratch on the stock and the stock has not been cut for peep sights. Yall let me know what I have, I traded an H&R Handi Rifle in 450 Marlin for it. Was that ...
Serial # 700743 Barrel stamp LE Feb. 1958 This looks like the lowest serial numbered 725 listed on this site so far. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g171/boltsonly/Dec12013001_zps19a2e59a.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g171/boltsonly ...
I have a 1974 BDL 22-250 with the solid checkering and I've had two BDL 30-06's from 1980 and 1981 with solid checkering. They must have phased it in over a few years...maybe as they used up stock inventory?
it should be marked "STAINLESS STEEL" under the chambering stamp. I've had three of these...all 7mm Rem Mags...
note, all of these had barrels of 23-1/2"..not 24". I still have one barrel in the corner.
270 Win caliber date code XB, December 1955 ser# 371997 300 H&H caliber date code KXX, May 1951 ser# 173894
The 270 is interesting in that the barrel was never stamped with the cartridge at the factory. I've had a couple gunsmith's look at it and they agree ...
