On the above 300S, I wonder if the stocks relief at the peep area is factory. I sure looks like it could be for the rear side scope mount when the rear ring is untapped.

Barrel stamp LE Feb. 1958
This looks like the lowest serial numbered 725 listed on this site so far.

I just traded for my first 722. Its a 300S that barely looks used. It is not drilled and tapped in the rear. Bore is nice and shiny. Has one scratch on the stock and the stock has not been cut for peep sights. Yall let me know what I have, I traded an H&R Handi Rifle in 450 Marlin for it. Was that a good deal?

I've owned at least a half dozen 722's over the years but I've never come across a 300 Savage.

I have a model 725 in .222 with original walnut stock and I also have a blanket maple stock that it is currently in. I noticed that on pg 14 of this thread that "studechip" has a 722 in the same stock. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this stock? Ill post again later my sn and production code.

That stock is most likely a Fajen or Bishop stock. Definitely NOT factory. Those companies (and some others) made replacement stocks for many years. If I recall correctly, I think they both merged (they were both headquartered in Missouri) and then Midway USA (also in Missouri) bought up the combination and then turned it into "nothing".

I picked up a 722AC today in excellent condition. The AC's and B's sure don't grow on trees! It's a high-comb .257, serial number 25988x, date code R YY, November, 1952. I'll include a picture as many have never seen one...

My first visit after finding this site so howdy all.

I have a Remington 725 serial number 700691 and what I think is EE at the left side end of barrel. I had to purchase this from my wicked stepmother when my dad past away back in 94 so I am checking to see what this rifle is really all about since I am not really a gun person per say.

He was very meticulous with everything he owned and this rifle was no exception. My grandfather said she should have given me both this and his Remington 870 Wingmaster since he had both before they were married but I was just glad to get them at any price. She did change the scope to a Bushnell so I don't know what he had on it originally but he had "Buehler" rings and mounts. I knew the scope was changed because the first time I tried to move the bolt back past the scope it hit and I had to put on the high mount #8 rings.

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone can tell me from the "EE" when this was manufactured and maybe the value of a gun that looks new like this one.

I have one in .280 Remington that was made in May of 1958.
And, as an aside, the one I have has a higher serial number, but was made before yours.......SN 7031XX. That is not an unusual situation and has been discussed numerous times on the forum with regard to serial numbers not being a reliable qualifier for date confirmation.

My grandfather gave me his Model 721 300 H&H Magnum when I was a teenager back in the late 1980's. And I hope to pass it on to one of my future grandchildren. It has a barrel code ♡ O C 51 and the serial number is 385xxx, so it looks like it was manufactured in July 1956. My grandfather was a stickler for keeping his guns clean and oiled, so the barrel and metal parts are in nearly perfect condition. The stock is plain with minor wear.

Serial number in receiver bolt race. Original trigger, receiver is tapped but don't know if original or done later. Rifle belonged to my father-in-law and only recently came into my possession. Stock is the original but has been modified by being reshaped and cut for a recoil pad. Extremely good condition on the metal, I'd call it 80% plus.

two 722,s and a 725 added this year. 722 in .257 roberts# 421657 X-E, no rear sight boss. 722 in .308 win# 361621 K-B rear sight boss. 725 in 3006 #700182 X-D, no rear sight boss. 257 roberts and .308 win are in very good condition with ex bores, the 725 is good with a ex bore but has been hunted . eastbank..

My great grandfather's 721 chambered in 30-06. I believe it was made in 1950. Barrel is stamped WW and serial no. is 104305. Can anyone verify my info? Or tell me anymore info on it?
