Hopefully I'm not the bearer of bad news...but no, rear sight is not original; forearm bolt not original; holes in bbl. appear as those for the missing original sight.
If I'm off base I hope someone chimes in to set me straight.
Hope this helps.

Re: Model 14 Accuracy & Other marksmanship related crap!
Very interesting sir.
I’ve been feeding .35 Remingtons (Model 141s) factory 200 gr. loads for years until recently (finally) getting around to reloading some of those prized empty cases I’ve accumulated.
To make a long story short, I’ve significant experience in handloading virtually anything ...

Re: Info on Model 141 Grade E
Definitely an interesting piece. But I'm thinking the chance of that being factory engraving is pretty close to zero. Would be very surprised to learn otherwise. But I have been wrong before.

Re: Original or Not?
Thanks for your prompt response Jim! My LGS got one in today on consignment that looks very nice in the photos...except for that recoil pad. I didn't think it looked original, and will not waste time following this up.

Original or Not?
Does anyone readily know if a Model 81 in .35 Rem could've left the factory with a black rubber recoil pad & white spacer?

Re: rem 700 bolt assy ?
I'll say "no." .25-06 is a Long Action bolt. And, the bolt face is larger in diameter.

Re: Originality?
I am familiar with the date codes page, however had not seen the production info. Thanks for educating me with that link. I had relied on inaccurate info obtained elsewhere (indicating production ending before sernr 821000) in dating the receiver which I now know was not “very late,” but likely ...

Originality?
Greetings all:
I'm wondering if Model 12 barrels were dated as they were manufactured or after they were assembled onto a receiver?
Saw a very late serialized rcvr sporting a bbl. dated 1932 (year code "A"). Looked absolutely original in every respect with no stamped repair codes.
Likely ...

Re: Remington model 14 fail to fire
Pat:
The first thing that comes to mind is a head space issue. Check your sizing length & be sure the action is locking into battery. You may need to set the shoulder back slightly with your full length sizer die.

Re: purple hue bolt handles
Many of the vintage Remingtons I've seen circa 1930s & '40s have a plum color to the blued finishes when viewed under differing light conditions. I've always attributed it to natural wear and aging. Dunno...maybe someone will chime in with some good technical knowledge of chemical characteristics ...

Re: Model 141
I had that problem. Left the rifle in the "fired" position during storage thinking it would be good to "rest" tension on the mechanism. The bolt/mechanism was covered inside & out with old lube that was sticky & had turned to "varnish" like so many old arms do. When cycling the action, it would not ...

If you have one, or have info that will help me procure one/some for a Model 11 Sportsman...please contact me. Will also purchase the entire guide ring if it contains a pristine screw.
Thank you!
