Speedmaster 552

Post by pewpew »

Just bought this 552 Speedmaster today for $220.

What year does the serial 1988XXX or barrel date code indicate?

Is this rear sight original?

Also is the forearm bolt original?

What are the two small holes on top of barrel for?

Hopefully I'm not the bearer of bad news...but no, rear sight is not original; forearm bolt not original; holes in bbl. appear as those for the missing original sight.

If I'm off base I hope someone chimes in to set me straight.

Hope this helps.

The current rear sight is on backwards. The Receiver Cover is missing, mostly cosmetic but it does help keep debris from from entering.

The receiver itself is aluminum, screws are steel, be careful not to strip the threads.
