Model 11 Shotgun

Post by Dstanley »

I am attempting to determine the manufacture date and any additional information such as grade/type on a Model 11. The serial number is 390722. The codes stamped on the barrel are BFX. BF would seem to indicate January of 1937 manufacture date, but I can’t find anything regarding the X. The barrel is modified and there appears to be a C stamped on the barrel adjacent to the receiver. There is a duck scene on one side and pheasant on the other. Thanks in advance for any insight anyone my provide!

The receiver with serial number 390722 was put in work during 1936. That is right in the time frame when Remington started putting the roll-stamped birds on the sides of the Model 11A, B & C receivers, though they still pictured the plain receiver in the 1936 & 7 catalogs --

and first showed the roll-stamped bird in the January 3, 1938, catalog --

Please excuse my comment if it's inappropriate. But... after reading the date on a much older serial I had to inquire. 13,306 were made between serial numbers

I was mistaken on guesstimating this shotgun was a 1935 model... Perhaps the researcher can nail it down to a better date.

I am considering rebluing since there are many of these out there... and mine isn't necessarily a coveted model.

It has a 30" full plain barrel that has a slight ding in one spot. Doesn't appear on the inside. Bore isn't shiny, But serviceable

Am looking for a Vent Rib 28"

That receiver was put in work during May 1938.

An original vent rib barrel is going to be a tough one to find. Remington Model 11/The Sportsman barrels may require fitting.

No fitting required for this one. A 26" Skeet Factory Barrel...
