In order to answer your question, we need information as to what kind it is.
Single or double barrel. If single, is it a pump or semi-auto?
Posting a photo would be the best, along with the serial number.

Re: New Member from AZ
Don, I'm positive this is a cut down Remington Carbine not done by the factory. Someone heated the tangs and bent them for a pistol grip. Then made the grips and fore end. The barrel may be the cut original or a replacement. What is the caliber? I had a Model #4 Rolling Block that was modified the s...

Re: Info on Remington Speedmaster 552
I would say the RR code dates this as November 1968.
Also it appears that it is chambered for 22 shorts, and would be considered a Gallery rifle.

Model 51's if you want one
I was checking the up coming Rock Island Auction (Feb. 14-17), and was amazed to see so many Model 51's at one place. I have no connection to them, but wanted to point them out, in case your looking for one or more. There must be one of each variation, not all are factory original. It seems like a f...

Re: Model 30 Info
First let me say I'm no expert, but this is my opinion. This is a customized 1917 Enfield military rifle. This is based on a conversion my father did back in the 50's. The military rifle had markings on top of the front of the receiver and on the original barrel. The "E" on the safety is an...

Re: Remington model 572 Choke bore ..what is it worht?..help.
Since the M-572 wasn't introduced until 1955 they can't be older than that.
The code DM is 9/1965 and the RM is 11/1965. The 572 was made in both Choke Bore and Regular Smooth Bore.
I don't know which is more common. I will say, I paid $500 for mine a few years back.
I hope this helps.

Re: Would like more history on my gun, please?
In my opinion, based on what I can see. This is a back lock percussion rifle made by a gunsmith
named Moore, who used a Remington made barrel. Remington started making barrels (1816) long before making complete firearms. As marlinman said more photos would be helpful.

Re: Remington Model 52
The short answer is, the Model-52 is a modified M-51 in 380 cal. with an exposed hammer, similar to the M-53 in 45acp. When the Navy called for trials they only wanted a 45cal. with an exposed hammer, so as far as we know there was only one, what is called the M-52 produced. There are a couple of ar...

Re: Remington 11-48 F Engraving
If the serial no. is engraved rather than stamped, it's a good indication it's custom shop, but
that isn't exact. As researcher said photos would help.

Re: 1911 45 caliber identification help
I believe you are correct, that it is a Remington-UMC frame. I would like to ask if it is Blue or parkerized? Many years ago I purchased, what I thought was a 1911 Rem.-UMC (very nice slide and markings), which had been government refinished. Only later did I find out it has a Colt frame. I guess th...

Re: 550-1 receiver plug adjustment
First let me say I'm not a gunsmith. The cap on the back end of the 550 is not for adjustment. The 550 has a floating chamber, sized to the length of a 22 short. It is designed to recoil with the cartridge. A long rifle cartridge extends past it thus reducing some of the recoil. At least I think so....

If it's in the original box, the date code should be on the end label.

Re: Could anyone tell me ?
As admin stated, a photo of the barrel markings would be the most accurate identifier. The various type/models are primarily determined by the company names and placement. Is yours marked E. Remington & sons, Remington Arms Co., or Remington Arms U.M.C.? If Remington Arms Co., then the style and...

Re: Remington Model 121 in " 22 SHORT ONLY "
54bullseye While I don't collect Remington Pump 22's, I did collect 22 smoothbores. After looking at many M-12,121, and 572's, I would agree that both the 121 short and Remington special are scares, if not rare. Also a M-12 in smoothbore would be in the same category. Regarding your mention of the &...

Remington Cutlery Collectors Club
Being a charter member of the RCCC, I was wondering what had happened to the club. It seems when Bear took over distribution the annual Club knives stopped. Now that Buck has partnered with Remington on the knives I thought maybe the Club would continue. I inquired of Remington about this and this w...
