Re: 1858 New Model civilian 2 line address

Hi UpNorthCountry,
I agree with Patbar.
I'am sorry for you but what you have is a counterfeited Italian modern replica.
Everything is wrong on this gun..

Re: 1858

Hi Dan,
Nice to hear you again.
I see that your always there to help.
There is no Remington Society of America of France, so that's ok ;)
We do have forums on black powder/modern firearms from everywhere.
But they are rarely dedicated to only one manufacturer or brand.
The tremendous development for ...

Re: 1858

Hi,
You're not on the good forum my friend.. lol
But it doesn't matter as it's always nice to see a U.S civil war revolver!
Nice relic condition, let it as it is..

Daniel you owe 5$.. ;)

Re: Model 1858 Navy Identification

Hi Folks,
I hope you're doing well!
Sorry but the 1861 Navy & Army models did not have Beals's Patent on barrel.
And his name has disappeared after that.. Only to mention the patent date.

Nice revolver anyway J_Thomas!
I like the shark fin look like of the front sight.

Re: 1858 Verification help

Hello Doug,
You did not mention the caliber but I suppose it's a .44 caliber.

Your New-Model Army is suppose to be made in may 1863 (#23014) or in july 1863 (#28014).
Did you check the serial numbers also on ;
- the left grip frame, under the panel (and sometimes on the two panels grip).
- the ...

Re: Remington Beals Pocket 3rd model

Hi Patbar,
Thank you!
It's interesting to see that the cylinder pin was mounted before the lever catch post.
Ok, so the upper portion of the cylinder pin is round.
Can you please tell me, if that flat surface goes to rear end?

Thanks again,

Re: Identification at a glance

Hi Patbar,
You don't get it! Since the beginning I've been talking about the cylinder pin and its location.
Don't worry it's not a big deal.

Anyway, have you see #13271?? Which bears a Late New-Model address..
See you,

Re: Identification at a glance

Hi There,
Of course and you're right Patbar, the lever is the most recognizable feature.
But how would you do if this part was modified or changed..?

This trick helps to avoid counterfeited Remmies I think.
it also helps when the seller only give you, one single picture! And so deal with it..

Re: Identification at a glance

Hi Guys,
I give you my trick.
Location of the cylinder arbor pin head is very helpful to determine the true origin of your revolver.
I would also add, the milled out portion in front of the frame.

- On Beals revolver, the cylinder arbor pin head is fully rebated into the frame,
- On Elliot revolver ...

Re: Identification at a glance

You're right Patbar, in people mind his name refers to the Derringer.

The problem was not the loading lever my friend
I'm glad you have the book now, take a look at the chapter Ten...
I don't want to spoil the "End" of the movie

Re: Identification at a glance

WoW, that sounds very very Nice!
An example of each model, included the famous "Single Wing Beals Navy "
We want to see that on YT, Please!

Answering that question was too easy for you :D
Can we say that the whole point for Remington was to secure the cylinder pin inside the frame ...
