Hi
Thanks for the replies.
I agree with Daniel on the matter of different finishes.
How the gun was plated and treated thru its life span will affect this alot.
The short barreled ones that I've got is similar to yours with pretty dull finish.
The finish of the earlier (I presume) with the standard ...

Re: Remington Rider Pocket revolver
Hi
Old thread, but late answer is better than no answer,I guess :D.
I think the serial numbers on this model are run in batches.
I have a few of these and the serials is spread wildly.
For excample:
#237 Early model percussion with dovetaild fron sight
#5969 Later percussion model with post front ...

Re: Remington #3 Hepburn manufacture date
Hi
We can own them but it requires paperwork.
You also have to provide a reason to own it.
This reason has to be justified.
You can get around this if you are an registered gun collector.
But becoming one is not an easy task either.
Best regards
Eskil

Re: Remington #3 Hepburn manufacture date
Hi
Thanks for the reply.
That was the same thing I thought.
I need to have certain proof that it is before 1890.
I can see that probably wouldn't be possible.
Pity, caouse it's a nice rifle.
Thanks again.

Remington #3 Hepburn manufacture date
Hi
I was wodering if anyone know the manufacture date on a Rem. Hepburn with serial #48XX.
It has a Remington Arms co marking on the barrel so i know it's after the receivership.
But is it produced before 1890 which is classification for antique firearms in my country?

Re: NMA 45 Colt conversion Frank L. Osgood
Hi Bill
Thanks a lot for your answer. Very interesting reading. I really liked the "Patented deluxe hammer".
I also thought it was quite strange that a conversion of this quality did not have an ejector rod.
My specimen lacks the conversion number on the loading gate and on the backplate, but it ...

NMA 45 Colt conversion Frank L. Osgood
Hi
I purchased this gun the other day.
It was listed as a 5 shot 45 Colt conversion by Frank L. Osgood.
It was said that this information was fetched from the book Remington Large Bore Conversions by R. Phillips.
I do unfortunately not owe a copy of this book. Guess I need to bay one soon (as I ...

Re: Remington RB no1? Sporter
Well then I became a proud owner of a RB Sporting model no 1 😁. Barrel is replaced with a barrel from Smith&Wesson. Did not know they made rifle barrels.

Re: Remington RB no1? Sporter
Hi everyone. Thanks for the replies. Really appreciate it.
This rolling block things are new to me. I'm more of a revolver kind of guy.
I was offered this in my home country Norway and they are quite rare over here so not many experts to ask for advice.
Oldremguy: Looks similar to the late version ...

Hi
This is a low serial for a true New Model (might be an Elliot frame?).
Your revolver left the factory in Jan 1863.
