Remington #3 Hepburn manufacture date

Post by Eskilgh »

Hi
I was wodering if anyone know the manufacture date on a Rem. Hepburn with serial #48XX.
It has a Remington Arms co marking on the barrel so i know it's after the receivership.
But is it produced before 1890 which is classification for antique firearms in my country?

With the steel forearm tip, and buttplate style being of the earlier versions, I'd expect this to be an antique variation and not post 1898. But whether it falls prior to 1890 for your restrictions I would be surprised if it was. And really no way to know for sure on the 1890 date.

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
That was the same thing I thought.
I need to have certain proof that it is before 1890.
I can see that probably wouldn't be possible.
Pity, caouse it's a nice rifle.

Thanks again.

Do your laws not let you own post 1890 firearms, or is it a case of having to do some paperwork to own it?

Hi
We can own them but it requires paperwork.
You also have to provide a reason to own it.
This reason has to be justified.
You can get around this if you are an registered gun collector.
But becoming one is not an easy task either.
