Since Whitmore did design guns for Remington I can understand why someone might think Remington collectors might have some insight in to other work he did. Doesn't seem so unreasonable to ask.

2shooter, I was familiar with the Remington reorganization in 1888. That why I was interested if the 34922 number might be a serial number if so that might date the new barrel to around 1890 according to Semmer's book.
