RaHarmakis,
Your rifle (carbine) is/was probably chambered for the 11 mm Spanish cartridge or the 11 mm Egyptian cartridge, neither of which is interchangeable. During the black powder rifle period, both Remington and Hartley and Graham were very accommodating to buyers. Various barrel lengths were ...

Re: Identification for Rifle/Caliber
Also include the base diameter of the chamber cast. Seems to have a very short case for a black powder military cartridge.

Re: Another one to hang on the wall
I can remember the days of the late, great Pomona (CA) Gun Show back in the days before CA really went off the deep end. Split breeches were numerous but not common. Back then I was too close to being a pauper to afford one.

Re: A newest member’s acquisition
Unless your Argentine rifle has had the chamber messed with, it is chambered for the 11 mm Spanish (.43 Spanish) cartridge. The numbers on the sides of the tangs are not serial numbers; Remington did not serialize most large frame Rolling Blocks. As for the "64", only the Argentines would know the ...

According to Geo. Layman in his "Remington Military Rolling Block Rifles of the World" the fleur d ' lis is found on Spanish rifles and is a symbol if the Spanish Royal Family and the House of Bourbon. He also says that the 1st contract for Spain went to Cuba and was the only contract that should ...

Re: Iding a Rolling Blcok
Bill,
As to the markings on the bottom of the barrel, the only ones that have significance to us today is the 10.6 which indicates bore diameter in millimeters for the 11 mm Spanish cartridge. On Belgian rebarreled Egyptian Rolling Blocks in the Egyptian caliber, they stamped 11.1 for mm. I read ...

Re: Iding a Rolling Blcok
Your action started life as what is known as the Transformed Rifle in .58 caliber made from surplus Civil War rifle parts mated to a Remington action. This is evident in your 5th photo where the sides of the breech block are rounded to accommodate the larger diameter of the .58 cal. cartridge. It ...

The reloadable cases are designed by having a hole drilled into the base of the case so that a .22 RF blank can be inserted. The Navy Arms .32 RF are actual rimfire cartridges. While some adventurous folks reload them, it can be dangerous.

Look up GUNBROKER # 890073939. I've purchased cases from this guy and use them in two .32 RF Rolling Blocks. They have withstood many reloadings. I use them with .22 RF "Acorn" blanks. I'm currently using blanks made by Walther. I've also used blanks made in one of the ex Yugoslave Republics. This ...

Re: Remington Rolling Block in .348 Winchester Questions
You will need a .45 caliber round, soft lead ball commonly used by muzzle loaders. The ball has to be oversized to properly fill the grooves of the barrel which is the dimensions you will need. With a hammer, gently tap the ball into the muzzle making sure you don't actually strike the muzzle with ...

Although getting way off topic, Re Remington's bore dimensions, what about Winchester lever actions and Colt revolvers? Possibly just the state of the art in the early days of cartridge guns and soft lead bullets.

Re: Remington Rolling Block in .348 Winchester Questions
Just a WAG but, back in prehistoric days before 11 mm Spanish brass was readily available, people made cases out of .348 WCF. The rim dia. of the .348 is approx. .610" while the base dia. is approx. .553".
The Spanish measures approx. .642" at the rim and the base approx. .520". The Rolling Block ...
