Hello RSA Members,
Your Remington Society was well represented at the Annual NRA Convention in Pittsburgh by Jim Ciolli, who put up a colorfull both of Remington Model 600 and 660 rifles. Jim and the other RSA helpers greeted 60,000+ attendees that came to this gala NRA event.
The RSA seminar committee put together a terrific program for this summer. The 10th Annual RSA Historical Seminar will take place at the NRA Headquarters and Museum on July 28-30th in Fairfax, Virginia. Come enjoy a great three days of “pure Remington”!
Gordon Gosburg is working on producing attractive slip-cases for out RSA Journals. These will become available in a few weeks. Watch for an ad in the 3rs Quater Journal.
RSA name badges are now available for all members, not just for RSA officers and directors. The sturdy plastic badges are available in two attractive colors, so you may wish to purchase both. (See ad on page 14 of this Journal.)
The colorful and well-illustrated book of Remington sporting art is available to all RSA members. (See advertisement on page 31 of this Journal.) It is a perfect accompanyment to Remingt’s authorized history book: Remington – America’s Oldest Gunmaker.
On a sad note, we acknowledge the passing of two men who will long be remembered for their accomplishments to gun collecting and to the Remington Society. The first is Sam Alvis, retired head of R & D for Remington Arm Company (see memorial on page 35), and the other is Herb Peck, Jr. who was a historian and collector of photographic images of individuals holding firearms. Herb’s photos graces the majority of gun books produced in the last 25 years. Thank you, gentlemen, for all you did to make this such an enjoyable hobby.
As this issue of the RSA Journal goes to press I am reminded of the events that have transpired since the 1st Quarter issue was published.
It is not too early to think of the elections we hold each January at out Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. We are always looking for active, energetic individuals to step forward into leadership roles with this fine organization. Let us know if you want to be considered. As Leaon has always said… Always fight the good fight!
