RSA 2024 1st quarter journal

From the Editor, Roy Marcot

To all RSA Members…

It is not an easy job each quarter, to bring you articles, photos and features that are always in your areas of interest. Our membership is so diverse in that there are so many Remington collectible areas…from those who collect firearms (antique to modern), to those collecting knives (vintage to modern), to cartridge collectors (E. Remington & Sons – 1871 to 1885); and UMC (1866 to 1911); and modern (1912 to present), to those collecting typewriters, sewing machines, cash registers, etc.

We are fortunate to have such an extensive array of documents and photos in our RSA Archives. That is why we can bring you such a a varied array of “Remington History”.

In this Issue:

  • RemShots by Mike Alsop
    • Remington “Adirondack” Rifles
    • Remington Model 1902 Rifles
    • Remington Model 1897 Rifle Extgractors
    • Laser designs on Remington buttstocks
  • British .303 Springfields – Re-visit

To all RSA Members…

I would like to extend another WELCOME to the newest members of the RSA! Your Officers, Directors and Staff work hard to bring you as enjoyable an experience as you expect it to be. Remington – America’s Oldest Gunmaker continues to evolve, and our organizations strives to protect its 208-year old heritage through our all-Remington magazine and our Annual Historical Seminars. In October we have been invited to hold our next seminar at the Remington Ammunition Plant in Lonoke, Arkansas!

We are doing just fine!! The Annual Member’s Meeting in Las Vegas went well, and all in attendance had a great time! The Las Vegas Antique Arms Show is one of the best gun shows in the Country, and is held each January.

You may be aware that the RSA Archives of Remington History has moved to its new home in Tucson, Arizona, and work has begun to scan all 140-linear feet of materials. These will eventually be put on-line to make access available for our historians and authors. It will be more than a year-long project, and we will keep you abreast of our progress. All is positive and we are moving foward.

In Las Vegas your Board met with the President of the Texas Gun Collectors’ Association. He formally invited the RSA to be a part of the TGCA Fall 2024 Gun Show in Denton, Texas. more to come in the near future on this opportunity.

The RSA website is in the process of updating and streamlining, to be even more user-friendly and current with the newest information about RSA happenings.

There is no doubt that 2024 will have more to offer for all. I hope to see you in Texas at the October TGCA Show and later in Lonoke, Arkansas at the RSA Seminar in the Remington Ammunition factory!

Ed Parker Taddeo – RSA President
