LOCKED AND LOADED …

A closing message from RSA President Rich Shepler

Rich Shepler

Regrettably, we have to cancel the 2011 RSA Annual Seminar planned for the Remington ammunition plant in Lonoke,Arkansas. We had an invitation and the seminar
arrangements had all been made, but there was a change of management, which has to tend to immediate priorities, which necessitated this cancellation. At this late date, it was not possible to organize a seminar at a different venue, so there will be no RSA seminar for 2011. I thank all who had registered to attend and who I know were very disappointed. I hope to see you at the 2012 RSA seminar, location and dates to be announced later.

On a brighter note, as I write this spring is officially here
and turkey season started in Tennessee. Do you have Remington guns which you shoot? Think of them as future collectibles which some judicious current use and care will not hurt. The Remington Company has a fine selection of firearms suitable for all organized shooting sports, target and hunting, as well as just plinking fun. While you are at it, pick up some of that good green box ammo. It is
as much fun to shoot Remingtons as it is to collect them.

In last quarter’s issue I announced several RSA leadership
changes and additions resulting from our 2011 elections. I am very pleased to now be able to an- nounce more. Bill Hansen has agreed to be our RSA Secretary for a term of three years. This will give some very well deserved relief to Robert Kneppler, who has shouldered the responsibilities of both Treasurer and Secretary for the last several years. Thank you Robert and thank you Bill! Also, new RSA Director George McAllister has assumed the duties of RSA Membership
Chairman. George will bring his creative ideas to the task of increasing RSA membership. Dan Pozarek has offered to take over the responsibilities of Elections Chairman from John Gyde,
who is retiring from this position after several years of service. So Dan is the man to contact for those interested in nominating candidates for elections or for volunteering to be one yourself. Please join me in thanking all these folks for stepping forward and joining RSA’s leadership ranks.

While we have had good fortune in a number of people stepping forward to become more active in RSA matters, we can always use additional involve- ment from members. The single largest impediment to our being able to do more is availability of people resources. So if you have thought about it, but have not raised your hand yet, don’t hesitate any longer. Give me a shout and we can discuss how
you might help

Think about writing an article for the Journal, too. You might not think you have enough material, but you could be
pleasantly surprised and may have information our membership would very much like to know. Don’t be hesitant because you have never written an article before. Roy Marcot, our Journal Editor, can help you. One never knows what they are capable of doing until they try.

RSA membership is like so many other things in life, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.

Best regards,
