Locked and Loaded… RSA President Rich Shepler

LOCKED AND LOADED …

A closing message from RSA President Rich Shepler

Rich Shepler

The 2011 Las Vegas Antique Arms Show and the Remington Society of America meetings were a success and are now history. If you were there, I am sure you had a good time, and if not, you were missed. Make a resolu- tion to participate in one or more RSA activities during 2011 and you won.t regret it.

Election results were announced at the RSA Members’ Annual Meeting. Director and RSA Webmaster David Fagan was elected Vice President. The two open Director positions were filled by incumbent Garland Jackson and RSA Show Manager Corey Creamer. In accordance with our Constitution and By- Laws, as RSA President I ap- pointed George McAllister to serve the remaining two years of David Fagan’s Director’s term.

As anticipated, the 15th Annual RSA Seminar in Tucson was very successful. Other than the prior year.s seminar at the Remington plant in Ilion, the Tucson seminar was the best attended of the fifteen seminars held to date. The upcoming 2011 RSA Seminar will be held at the Remington ammunition plant in Lonoke, Arkansas, just east of Little Rock. There is a lot of enthusiasm for this venue which we last visited 10 years ago. The RSA is one of only a very small number of groups that have been allowed to tour this ammunition plant, so this is a unique opportunity. As always, seminar participation is restricted to RSA members, though a member may bring a guest. (No one less than 18 years of age can attend because of strict liability insurance require- ments at the plant.)

The Lonoke 2011 RSA Seminar will commence with registra- tion and dinner on Wednesday, September 21st, and conclude with dinner Friday, September 23rd. Because of the size of the conference room, seminar attendance will be limited to 75 members and guests — and we anticipate a sell-out. I have been told that some ammunition collectors will join the RSA specifi- cally to attend this seminar since ammunition collector groups have never been allowed to tour the plant. Consequently, while I do not need you to pay your seminar fees yet, I strongly encourage you to contact me to hold a place for you as soon as possible. Full seminar details (including seminar hotel informa- tion) will be posted on the RSA website as soon as they are
finalized and will be published in the 2nd Quarter Journal.

My contact information can be found at the front of this Journal. To reserve your space, send me your name, phone number, e-mail address and mailing address. Also, include the name of your guest or attending spouse. E-mail is the preferred mode of communicating, as it will be much easier for me to keep you informed between now and the seminar. As soon as they are available, I will send full seminar details directly to everyone who has registered with me, so you will have them well before the 2nd Quarter Journal comes out.

Don’t delay… block off September 21st-23rd on your calendar and get your registration information to me as quickly as possible. Seminar registration is on a first come, first served basis and once it reaches seventy-five, I can only put folks on a waiting list in case there are cancellations.

Another unique opportunity for RSA members this year will be the chance to win a one of a kind 50th Anniversary Commemorative Model 700 rifle which will be specially embellished for RSA by Remington Arms. Look for details coming to the RSA website and in the 2nd quarter Journal.

Be on the watch also for opportunities to sponsor an exhibit at a RSA table at a gun show, or to assist in manning the RSA table at a gunhow in your area. We will have a table at more shows this year than ever before and we always need help during the shows. If you are contacted by Corey Creamer, RSA’s Show Manager, or a RSA exhibitor because you live near one of these shows, please lend a hand if you can.

Best regards,

Rich Shepler

RSA President
