I have one of these rifles and in doing research I have found that it is a Romanian training rifle. Apparently as UMC is part of Remington they have nothing to do with this particular rifle. If you look closely at the underside of the barrel out toward the muzzle you may find a very faint stamp that states it is Romanian.
