The 'embellishing' was some type of 'engraving'...I didn't care for it and bought an 'un-embellished' version of the BDL-DM in .338 Win.Mag.
That particular rifle I had was a great shooter, too, but I sold it.
It was a 1995 model, with no 'J-LOCK'.
Both the engraving and j-lock have been discontinued, I believe.
The engraving just wasn't 'right' to my eyes.
The j-lock was wierd enough looking, but it's what it did on the inside that was really weird.
I went to the gunsmith with my .375 ULTRA that replaced the .338.
We opened up the bolt and the j-lock really screws up the spring, as it twists it. Without the lock, the spring compresses straight back.
Apparently, Remington didn't make all the parts go together exactly the way you'd think they would...
Anyway, I'm going to have the .375 bolt changed to a NON-J-LOCK!
