Need info on my new found gun
Re: Need info on my new found gun
What the closest you have is a Remington New Model Belt .36 cal revolver. They made them from 1865-1873. Yours has a hair trigger which is odd. Value ranges from $475-$1400
Re: Need info on my new found gun
Your revolver is actually a New Model Pocket Revolver.
Re: Need info on my new found gun
Shortly after the Civil War, Remington designed a revolver to take the place of their 1st, 2nd and 3rd Model Beals Revolvers, which had been introduced just prior to the war. The new gun was a single-action, .31 caliber, percussion, New Model Pocket Revolver, a 5-shot, “pocket-sized,” spur-trigger pistol, available in 3", 3½”, 4" and 4½” barrel lengths. The first of these pistols were made with brass frames and sheath/spur trigger. Later revolvers were made with iron frames and brass sheath/spur triggers; and lastly were made all iron frames and sheath/spur triggers. As many as 26,000 New Model Pocket Revolvers were manufactured through the mid-1870s.
