742 Woodmaster stamped 760 Gamemaster

Post by bmack »

In 1976 on the eve of deer season, my father and I purchased this rifle new. I was 13 years old then and killed a nice little 5 pt. the next morning. I also discovered it had the same markings as my uncles pump rifle rather than my fathers autoloader. I wrote Remington a letter and as I recall they wrote me back and asked that I return the rifle for repair or replacement. I still have that rifle, here is the info. ser#A7068771 left side of barrel very small, looks like 171 then what looks like a D with the bottom not completely closed followed ba a 7 where the barrel meets the receiver a larger 94. On the right side of the barrel, R.E.P. circled small marking resembling an x small marking resembling a fishhook with a dot in the middle or an upside down question mark. This rifle is semi auto chambered in 30-06. It is also a carbine. My questions are as follows. Has anyone heard of others? Possible value? How or where would I go to find an interested collector? This rifle has only a few dings from hunting and has as near as I can estimate about 60 rounds fired through it at most. I will watch for posted replies or may be emailed at killdeer0116@yahoo.com . Thank you all, sincerely, Bruce Mckinney
