Hello Everyone,
I have another question. I have a bunch of very old 117 grain hollow point bullets for a 25 Remington. How would they do for a deer hunting bullet (vs a standard 117 grain.) The type of hunting I do is close range (50 yards or less) in the woods.
Thanks,
Carl

Specifically, what brand are they? Are they flat nose hollow points? How old? Are they loaded rounds or "bullets" for loading/reloading?CWarmouth wrote:Hello Everyone,

The reason I'm asking is because I have some OLD .25-35 Winchester 117 gr. flat nose hollow point loaded ammo that would be considered pretty rare and I would not shoot them for anything.......mainly due to their collector's value.......and, they're just not made anymore.
In any case, I would NOT use that bullet for hunting deer. I would stick with a 117 gr. roundnose (Hornady bullet for handloading) for deer-sized game.

Re: 25 Rem 117 g Hollow Point
Thank you Wulfman. I bought a box of factory loaded NOS Remington Kleanbore ammo off the internet last year. They were hollow point bullets. I tried to shoot one and I got a hang fire. I pulled the bullets, deprimed the case, cleaned them up and have them ready to reload. I have been shooting 60 grains for plinking but am ready to load some rounds for my 11 year old to hunt with. Based on your advice I'll stick with the Hornady round nose. Thanks.

I appreciate the link but I think I'll stick around here for a while. Several people here have been so helpful, either by giving info on the board or through email.
