Guys: I wanted to see if someone could help Me with a question regarding my Sportsman 48 D grade. It is seriel # 3800007 which would make it the seventh produced when remington started producing the 20 ga. Sportsman in 1949. It is a 20 ga. with a factory cutts compensator and 26" barrel and standard skeet deminsions. I have 2 questions about this particular gun:
1) Who was most likely to have done the engraving(Mr. Runge or Mr. Angelo Bee or some other engraver who was employeed at this time period?
2) With such a low seriel # 3800007 was this gun probably built for someone at Remington such as a member of the board of directors or some other office holder in 1949?
Thanks rem48fan

Re: Remington 48 Sportsman 48 D grade
For a Remington gun made in 1949, the best bets would be Robert P. "Bob" Runge, Carleton L. "Carl" Ennis or maybe Jack H. Caswell.
