721 Remington Carbine?

Post by musketshooter »

Has anyone ever owned or seen a 721 carbine in 30-06? I have one that appears to be completely factory original. Is it possible that it is a special order rifle? Pictures available for viewing by knowledgable persons. e-mail me at musketshooter@bresnan.net

Although Iv'e never come across any reference to a carbine length 721 back then the factory would make you just about anything you wanted , so If they never cataloged one it is still possible it was factory done . Supposing you not the original owner it isn't too unlikely that it could have been done sometime after it left the factory due to damage occured at some time and cutting back the barrel and reattaching the factory sight by a smith perhaps . Out of curiousity what is the barrel length from gas vent hole in the receiver to the muzzle?

721 carbine bbl length

Thanks for the reply fellows. The barrel length is exactly 20 inches from the vent hole to the muzzzle. There is no evidence of any heating around the front sight and the blue is consistent on the entire rifle. I am positive it has never been polished or reblued. I got it from an estate, so there is no way to find out if it was special ordered. The owner was quite small and the rifle would have been perfect size for him.
