wanting information on Model 700 BDL 6.5mm REM MAG

Post by notahd »

I'm trying to get information on my 6.5mm Rem Mag. I talked with a Remington rep and he said that the 6.5 were made in 1969-1973. I gave him my serial number an he said that the rifle was produced in 1964. I have seen other 6.5 Custom Deluxe that have from and rear sight on them. The one that I have has no sights on the front or rear and was never drilled. It how ever was drilled and tapped for scope mounts. One other thing I noticed different is the front of the stock (fore arm) doesn't have the rounded black tip as many of my Remington's do. It has a chiseled or wedge cut light colored wood like maple or something . I bought the rife 10 years ago or and the old fella said that the gun is all original. It was in very nice shape and wasn't fired much. If you can help me contact me at this e-main address notahd@aol.com

What's the barrel code? That will tell when the barrel was made.

The serial number on the action isn't a definitive method of dating a rifle. It's not entirely unusual for older actions to be used at a later date.

Is it a long action or a short action? (should be short action)
Is the Remington name and information clearly readable on the left side of the barrel just above the stock line where it's supposed to be?

Other possibilities could be that it was put together from various parts......or restocked
