I reassembled the rifle and worked the action, it seemed tight. I lubricated as I thought this was the problem. After pumping a couple more times, the slide worked freely. It was immediately apparent something had gone astray.
Broke apart and out fell the firing pin, a small spring and small spring guide.
I am confident the spring and guide work together with the firing pin and breechblock, but I can't figure out how to put it back together. The spring and guide were not visible until the pin broke. I have a scematics which is not helping me much.
I got a replacement firing pin from Numerich and they sent a "new & improved" version to be used without modification. It says to omit front retaining pin when installing the new firing pin. It is much stronger than the origional and almost indestructable! What a concept!
Can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance,
Kelly
Okay! We got the firing pin back into the breech block. Quite an accomplishment by the way. One needs 3 hands and 4 good eyes.
New problem; reassemble with the gun cocked. Shoot all rounds without any problems; feeds, fires, ejects etc. Fire last round + 1. When gun is NOT cocked I cannot work the pump action. I know it will be hard because of the pressure that is now on the hammer. I have applied quite a bit of force to no avail. Also, the safety will not engage unless the hammer is back. Is this normal?
