Post by PA24 »

Date of Manufacture..Remington Model 12....serial RW 100107...mint condition....straight grip, crescent butt plate, octagon barrel...22 S,L,LR....tack driver....

Interested in the 'exact' date of manufacture if available, I think 1912...but not sure....also I would like to purchase a Remington Society or Remington Company letter for this gun if they are available as with Marlin, LC Smith and Fox firearms...?....Directions to this letter source would be appreciated...thank you for your time and response....

First post this site, thank you and

Best Regards,
Doug

Manufactured mid 1911. Not a bad job on the metal refinish. Did you do it or was it done before you? No one offers factory letters on these that I know of. What would you need the letter to say?

I do all my own work, all hand finished......no wheels......

Need a letter derived from the factory records showing the true month and year of manufacture, or delivery....if such records exist.....? What source is directing you to 1911........?..........I saw one post here where 55,000 range was 1911...therefore they must have been popping these out like popcorn...?...

Thank you for your response.....

The ending serial number for 1910 was 55104. In 1911 48,818 model 12s were made with an ending serial number of 104041. Your rifle is earlier then the date cade system so you will have to roughly guesstimate the month of manufacture. The records for the 12s are a little slim. Most were destroyed so research is our only friend on the 12s, and he's not very friendly. There were so many little bitty variations and differences I dont think someone will ever know 100% history on them. There were over 830,000 12s manufactured between 1909-1936.

Thank you very much for your time and effort................this information will, I think, have to suffice.......my need was one of my quirks as I keep framed letters from the appropriate source on all my guns......just one thing I like to do......so this Remington and one Whitney rifle are the two that just won't have a letter on the wall.......not bad out of forty or so I guess.

Thanks again....I'll see if I can do some approximate math with the numbers you have given me....

Best Regards to you and Yours...
