Model 21A RW 55271 Stamped on Receiver - Production Date?

Post by glorenzo »

From what I can tell, I have a model 12A with RW 55271 Stamped on the bottom of the receiver. Can anyone tell me what its production date is, and any other information? It is in fair to good condition - needs a new cartridge retainer. Thanks!

Your M/12-A was made in very early 1911. The last serial # in 1910 was 55,104. The RW stands for Remington Works.

John,
Thank you very much! It is older than I thought - almost 100 years. That's cool! Any recommendations on where to get a couple of parts? I need, what I believe is called a cartridge retainer (flat pin about 1/8 inch wide by 1 1/2 inches long). I used to have it, but can't find it for the life of me.

Click on parts/service on the RSA home page. When you order parts, be sure to mention the age of your M/12. Different years used slightly different parts.

Thanks, again, John. Guess I need to become more familiar with the site.
