So you have serial 3XX with a Jan 1923 barrel code, I have serial 446 with a December 1922 barrel code.............interesting but not surprising. My gun looks to be all original (25-20) and mounts a Remington 48-51 Rear sight (the same one used on Model 12's).
The Remington catalog for 1923 shows the rear sight for the M25 to be the 93-1/2 as does an original owners manual. This sight is almost identical to the 701-1/2 sight except for the adjustable elevation insert. Soooo you have a choice of using the 48-51 which may well have been used on some early guns or picking up a 701-1/2 that is fairly common but make sure it has the adjustable slide/aperture.
My feeling is that by using the 701-1/2 you will be just fine and the chances of picking up a minty one at a gun show or auction are pretty good. I doubt if the Remington collector's "sight police" will come to your home to inspect the minor variation!
M25 Rear Sight?
