different types of smoothbores???

Post by mopar lou »

Hi, new to the forum.. I have seen 572's marked smoothbore, and Routledge bore. I am assuming the smoothbore is just a .22 calibre bore without rifleing ,, I think I know the basics of Routledge,, larger bore from muzzle about 10 or so inches deep ,, BUT now I have seen a 572 with what appears to be a Routledge bore, but the barrell is marked "model 572 choke bore for 22 lr shot cartridges,, What exactly is this... has anyone ever heard of it... I am thinking of buying it.. How rare, value etc... have only seen pictures in E-mail, but barrell is clearly marked as mentioned,, guy swears it has some choke to it and will hold an eight inch pattern at 40 feet..

I found your old question... You must have bought the rifle (shotgun to some folks). The M/572 CHOKE BORE might hold a 8" pattern at 40' if you use LR hollow points. With shot cartridges, my guess would be an 8 foot pattern @ 40 feet. Have you tried it???

A fun exercise is to toss ritz crackers and shoot at them like clay pigeons. You can eat your misses...
