Purchasing Rem 1100 Shotgun -- Serial Number Question
Purchasing Rem 1100 Shotgun -- Serial Number Question
I am new to Rem 1100 shotguns. I am communicating with an 88 year old man selling his 1100 shotgun. He has limited vision and has not been able to find the manufacture date code on the barrel. He says the SN is L642481V. Is there any way to age the shotgun from the serial number? Does the SN indicate grade in any way? He says he bought the gun "about mid '60s." He says it is a never fired "safe queen." Thanks for any insight you can provide. (Unfortunately he has no email and cannot send photos....)
Re: Purchasing Rem 1100 Shotgun -- Serial Number Question
The 'L' prefix ran from 1968 to 1974, so i would guesstimate that one at 1970 - 1971, if that helps any. Barrel code is even better than Remington lately in my opinion.
What could have happened... did.
