M11 16 Ga. w/ 2 bbls.
M11 16 Ga. w/ 2 bbls.
I recently acquired this well used M11 16 Ga., S/N 1503XXX with what seems to be the original bbl, date coded EB, MOD, bead on ramp front sight, 28" bbl with matching S/N's on bbl magazine guide and receiver. Both sides of the receiver are plain. It came with another bbl that I need help with. This bbl is shorter, with a Lyman Cutts and spreader tube. Bbl measures 25.5" to end of spreader tube. No S/N on bbl guide. Bbl is marked CYL and the date code is located on the underside of the bbl near the alignment marks. The date code is: EC2. Could this have been a two bbl set? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, hirsca.
Re: M11 16 Ga. w/ 2 bbls.
hirsca,
The date code on the original barrel (EB), indicates 10/1933 production.
The code (EC2) on the second barrel indicates 10/34. The 2 indicates
that it is a Remington replacement. Thus, while it is an original Remington barrel
I wouldn't call it a 2 barrel set. If supplied with the gun it should have the same
serial number.
