1894 Remington SKEET double

Post by E.S.M. »

Hello Folks , I am a new member and new to this site but a long time collector . I am trying to get some information on a Remington double . From the serial number , I think it is a 1894 hammerless and an odd serial # 130,001 . It has beautiful original wood with a full beavertail forarm with a plunger release button . Most of the finish on the action is a brown patina . No Safety with filled hole . It has 26" barrels . Inlaid into the stock ( oh no ! ) are round medallions stating that the owner was a skeet champion in Ohio in 1932 . The rib is loose on one side and needs resolderd , bluing about 70% . Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated ( date of mfg. or how to find previous owner ) . I am trying to get some history on this one , kind of a hobby of mine . thanks , Earl

On the bottom of barrels it is stamped with serial # 130001 . Both barrels have LA on bottom . Right barrel has a E in cursiv , Left has a J . LUG has a large P and small w , also #s 25 and 43 . Right barrel has a tiny w over a cross . TOP of barrel marked Remington Arms Co. Ilion NY U.S.A. NO engraving . The filling was professionally done on safety hole (not metal) but walnut fill matching stock . Forearm has identical wood & checkering and serial # same on all parts . Plunger release on tip .
hope this helps , Earl
