Remington Rolling block pistol

Post by Rolly »

I am looking for information on a Remington Rolling Block Pistol I recently purchased. It is a 50 caliber single shot eight inch round barrel and has a cartouche that looks like CRS on the pistol grip. The serial number is 2841 and the serial number of the grip is number 3244.

I am trying to find information on the date of manufacture, etc. How to find out what the cartouche means.... :?:

You have a Army Model 1871 Pistol.
The number 3244 found on the grip strap is the assembly number.
These pistols were made from 1871 to 1872, total quantity 5000.
The CRS cartouche found on the wood grip was the inspectors name, which was Curtis R. Stickney.
Hope that helps some.

Have a good day,
Matt
