Model 10 Trap Gun

Post by wburns »

Hello, I don't know much about early Remington pump shotguns but while out today a Remington Model 10 Trap Grade caught my eye so I bought it. Tonight I shot a few 2.5 inch low pressure rounds through it and it functioned great. I did not find much info on Remingtons site so I thought I would ask here. I am wondering what year it was made. Serial number 86028. Overall for its age I think it is in good condition. Are there any known common problems with these guns?

The old company ledger available on this web site starts at September 30, 1919, at serial number 172939.

The company name changed from Remington Arms Co. to Remington Arms-Union Metallic Cartridge Co. in 1911. So, I'd guess your gun at not too long after 1911. Your gun looks like a No. 10S "Trap Special" Grade as pictured here from the Rem-UMC 1913-1914 catalogue --

Looks like a real nice example you have, congrats!
