1858 new model army
1858 new model army
My oldest sons grandfather recently gave him a 1858 Rem New Model Army that was given to him by his father. The serial on the bottom of the barrell and under the grip is 108054. The left side of the barrell is stamped D, left upper frame B or R, back left side of frame W, trigger guard D, the cylinder R, and the bottom of the left grip is stamped D. There is an inspectors cartouche on the side of the left grip but I cant quite make out the letters. Almost though. If I had pictures of other cartouches I think I could figure it out. Any ideas? He is interested in knowing more about it and also its manufacture date.

Your Gun was made in late 1864. The cartouche is probably GP or OWA who were inspectors at that time, Jay Huber RSA
