Remington 12-cs
Remington 12-cs
New to site, what does WRF stand for? Cartridge type? I use 22 LRs in this one. Also ser # is 611942. The RW above the ser # must stand for Remington Works. dakoz
Re: Remington 12-cs
If you have a 12CS, the cartridge designation should say .22 Remington Special, which is interchangeable with .22 WRF. The fact that you can shoot .22LRs through it makes me wonder. Anyway, 22 WRF is still avaliable.
Re: Remington 12-cs
I had a WRF revolver many years ago. I shot some LRs in it. They functioned, but the cases all split. Not a good idea to switch calibers, even in a revolver. In a slide action gun, parts and pieces of the split cases could cause serious problems.
The RW does stand for Remington Works. Your Model 12-CS was made near 1923, so should have a barrel code. Check Manufacture Dates on the home page and you can see the month and year of production.
The caliber stamp should say Remington Special, not WRF even though they are the same cartridge.
