Remington 513T WW2 with U.S. Navy Anchor following SN
Remington 513T WW2 with U.S. Navy Anchor following SN
I've been unable to find any reports of a WW 2 U.S. Property marked Remington 513T that also has a Navy anchor symbol stamped under the barrel following the serial number. Whereas the SN is arranged to read along the bottom axis of the barrel (muzzle to forend) the anchor would sit upright when the butt is in a rack. Rack number is "5" with white paint on the left side of buttstock above the rear sling swivel and on bottom of stock above the front sling swivel. Arsenal markings are on left side of buttstock for Anniston (AN) and LEAD. It has original target sights and is in excellent condition. It came from the estate of a former high-ranking Navy officer that had taught at the Naval Academy. Date code is XMM. Have any of you heard of other WW 2 firearms with the navy anchor instead of "PROPERTY US NAVY"? I can take a pic if anyone wants a look. Thanks, Tom in Boulder

I think the anchor stamping is just a Remington Proof Mark and not a Navy Property Stamp. Maybe someone else can jump in here and help out.
