Remington 700 “4” proof but No Date Code

I recently won an action for a model 700LH that is advertised as new old stock. It has no date code on the barrel just a number 4. I am wondering what this proof means. The serial number is C6305xxx. Anyone know if these barrel proofs are typical or what the “4” designates?
