Longtime Remington owner of various models, first time for the Model 24. Being the genius that I am, I see by the empty little square hole in the forearm that the barrel take-up lock is missing. I *assume* that the barrel take up lock when moved to the take down position depresses the spring loaded detent visible under where the lock should be.
As I cannot rotate the barrel assembly with the detent out, or while depressing it (while also holding the bolt carrier group to the rear), I am working under the assumption that either a) depressing the visible detent is not the needed operation to rotate the barrel assembly for takedown, or b) there is enough crud built up from close to 100 years of powder fouling that it’s lightly seized. (I have not put much torque on it trying to rotate it, I know better)
I have found a source to replace the missing barrel take-up lock, but any help in figuring out how to take it down would be greatly appreciated!
