Just inherited a Model 30 Express with no butt plate

Post by jccinohio »

Hello.. first time poster..

Just inherited a 30 Remington Model 30 Express that is missing the butt plate. Most of the model 30 express pics I see online the butt plate is curved, but my stock is completely flat. It had chunks of the original plate when I got it, but I removed them.

Anyone know where I get get a replacement plate for a decent price?

Thanks!

If the butt is flat then a recoil pad may have been added in the past, what you call "original plate" might be the remnants of the hard portion of the recoil pad after the soft portion has been removed.

I would be tempted to put a Pachmayr RP200 recoil pad on it instead of a plate. Pachmayr makes several styles if something else catches your attention. The pad will be a grind-to-fit, so labor is involved.
