25 Caliber Model 14 Remington

Post by laschmitt »

I'm attempting to help my father out with his 25 Caliber Model 14 Repeating Remington rifle that was handed down to him from my grandfather and would appreciate some help.  It seems that the firing pin was damaged so after taking the rifle apart and waiting six months for the new firing pin to arrive he has forgotten how to reassemble the rifle.  Following is all of the information he has relayed to me pertaining to the rifle: Patents Oct. 12, 1909, July 5, 1910, Nov. 19, 1912 and Aug 26, 1913. Manufactured in Ilion, NY. Overall Length:  40 1/2"Barrel Length:  21 13/16" (frac. is approx.) On the barrel it says "Remington Arms Union Metallic Company". It is a pump action with open sights and is a take down model.  The safety is on the back of the trigger guard.Behind the trigger guard is a stamp that consists of a circle with the letters UMC inside. The same stamp is also on the butt plate. On the left side of the receiver there is a stamp that looks like the end of a shell casing (a large circle with a smaller circle inside) inside of the small circle is an underlined U.  Above the stamp are the letters REM-UMC and below it is 25 Remington. I would appreciate instructions, or where I can get instructions for him to reassemble this rifle.
Thank you for your help, LAS

Thank you so much Jim. I really appreciate the information and will pass it on to my dad. He could make this so much easier if he would only get a computer! Thanks again, LAS
