Hey Guys,
I have a beautiful 1945 Sportmaster that was given to me by my late Grandfather. I’ve shot it a few times at my gun club. The problem I’m having is not all the rounds fire. The primer is getting struck but no go. Sometimes after re loading the round it will go off. This seems to happen with any ammo brand I try.
Could there be a weak spring in there causing an issue? Maybe the bolt just needs a real good cleaning? Hoping to get some advice. I can’t find a good video of disassembling the bolt either.
Thanks so much
Jason

Re: 1945 Sportmaster issue
Springs might be needed but I would start with cleaning first. Clean the face of the bolt, be sure to get the corners and nooks. Also clean the notches in the barrel that the extractors fit into. The rest of the bolt might need cleaning but if the firing pin seems to move freely I would add a bit of oil but not disassemble.
Check the face of the barrel, look for a small burr that might be protruding into the chamber. If there is a burr do not "fix" it, there is a special tool available to make the repair.
