Hello, first time posting here. I recently stumbled across a pretty nice Remington model 31-T labeled as a 31 trap in a local gun shop. I left without purchasing and after stewing it over for several hours I decided to call the shop and put it on layaway. I went back the next day to grab some photos so I could dig into details on it. This is where the confusion starts.
I know that the stocks are not original to the gun as they are that of a Monte Carlo style with a poor lacquer job on them.
It is very clearly marked 31-T.
4 digit serial number of 8565 on reciever.
The barrel does not match, it has a 5 digit serial number of 10105. 32” vent rib barrel marked “long range”.
all I’ve been able to find is that quite possibly the “T” grade is likely an early trap model before the “TC”?
Any details on the 31-T or the legitimacy of the long range barrel would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible that the barrel was installed at the factory as a last second thing to ship a special order long range gun?
Please let me know if there is any other information needed in order to provide answers. Thanks in advance

Re: Model 31-T 12g questions.
The Model 31 receiver with serial number 8565 was put in work during the last week of February 1932. I would suggest that the Model 31-T was a carryover from the Model 10-T "Target" Grade --
and the Model 29-T "Target" Grade --
The first catalog that shows a Model 31 "Target" grade, 1933, calls it TC --
Also, a June 21, 1932, Remington Arms Co., Inc. price list uses Model 31-TC.
Probably just took a bit for the folks on the factory floor to catch up with what the boys & girls in the office were putting in the catalogs. The highest serial number I've recorded marked Model 31-T is 8780 --
