Hello,
This is my first post on this forum. My name is Chris and I am a member of the North-South Skirmish Association. We shoot civil war small arms in both team and individual competitions.
I have been doing some research on the Minie' ball, invented by a French military instructor, Claude-Etienne Minié in 1846. I read that in 1858 Clade retired from the French Army as a Colonel, and that he emigrated to the United States and became a manager at Remington Arms.
I find the part about him coming to the US to work for Remington very interesting. He came to US to see his invention being used in the deadliest US war in history.
I can't find anything online about his time at Remington other than he was a manager.
I'm wondering if the Remington Society knows anything about what he did at Remington Arms? What did he manage? How long was he there? etc.
Thank You!
