I have a 1876 remington with indian markings

I haven’t been able to find any more information about the gun . It has two Indian symbols on the end of the gun.

The gun measures exactly 50 inches its barrel is 35.4 inches The date on the gun is marked 1876

There is a U & a T under neath the U on the top band .

There is another U on the bottom band .

I found the gun in a safe when I purchased my new house. The house belonged to a brigidiar General who has written 3 books on the civil war. I assumed it was a civil war rifle until I found the indian markings & saw the date of 1876 as the manufacturer date stamp
