Remington Model 11 help finding manufacturing date
Hello I have an old Remington model 11 shotgun I just inherited from my grandfather and was wondering how to find the age its serial number is under the receiver starting with a 1 and having 6 digits. Any input would be appreciated.

When Remington started their factory ledger as they resumed civilian production after The Great War, Model 11 serial numbers had reached 199611 by September 30, 1919. The guesstimation serial number chronology for earlier years suggests 1732xx would be of 1915 vintage.
This John M. Browning designed autoloading shotgun was introduced in 1905 by Remington Arms Co. In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. In 1916, to get additional capital for war production they incorporated as The Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Co., Inc. In August 1920, in order to spin off excess capacity and debt, they formed a new corporation Remington Arms Co., Inc. What is the company name on your gun?
