Remington 141 - Hard safety button…ideas?

Hello,

New to the forum. I purchased a Remington 141 last year. Gun is in great condition. The safety button is hard to work. I have tried lubricants, a gunsmith (who said it is old, just leave it alone …?) and a different safety button I bought eBay. Still…..hard to move from “safe” to “fire”. Anyone else have this issue and/or any ideas as to a solution. Would love to hunt with it, just would never use a gun without a proper working safety. Thoughts?

If the Safety is not burred, and it's channel in the Guard is not burred, then I would look at either a plunger that is incorrect or the Trigger is not moving out of the way. As you disassemble/assemble try moving the Safety as parts are removed or installed, the culprit should reveal itself fairly quick.
