Rare WWII Remington Cartridge Board??

Post by dojoho »

I am hoping that one of you might be able to refer me to a known collector/dealer of Remington cartridge boards that might be able to identify and value an unusual WWII board in my collection. Thanks!

That one appears to be homemade. Am I right?

The label reads: United States Ordnance Department Military Amunition Manufactured by Remington Arms Company, Inc. I suspect it was custom made by Remington durning the war to promote their contribution to the war effort. All of the cartridges that are dated have the date of 1943. And are all made by Remington of course. The case is professionally made along with the brass labels, all cartridges are inert. The case is made to be either hung (eye screws and hanging wire on reverse). Stood upright on the foot running along the base of the case (bottom is felt covered) or a recessed triangular leg can be swung out from the back of the case to display it like a desk photo. No dispay possibility seems to have been overlooked!

I have several catalogues that picture Remington ammo display boards along with UMC. Yours appears to be homemade. My guess by a cartridge collector that had a particular interest. I would think your best bet on finding out the value would find the value of each individual cartridge, and add a bonus for what you think the box is worth.
