We had our annual collector gun show this weekend and I got maybe 100 ft. into the show and saw a Hepburn Match A with a target scope sitting in a gun rack! I asked to look it over, and noticed it had a brand new barrel chambered in .25-20 WCF installed on it. It appeared someone maybe cold blued the barrel as almost no finish was left. But the price and a nice Litschert 10x target scope made the Hepburn a huge bargain price! Didn't take but a few seconds to quickly buy it! Couldn't find a Hepburn receiver to build one up for the price he wanted.
Wood is in very nice condition, and the bore is perfect. I have another Hepburn Sporting Rifle that's also in .25-20 WCF, but all original.
I sanded what little finish left off the barrel, and rust blued it using Mark Lee Speed Blue. About 5 coats and it was looking much better. The rest of the gun is nice enough to leave alone as is. Should be a fun shooter I hope!
